The Nanoscience group runs a yearly A-level Masterclass, “Exploration and Manipulation at the Nanoscale”, first held on the 27th of September 2008 in the School of Physics & Astronomy. It includes hands-on session on atomic force microscope(AFM)-driven nanolithography, scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM), and optical spectroscopy of gold nano-particles.

Welcome to the University of Nottingham Nanoscience Group Homepage. The research programmes of the Nottingham Nanoscience group span a range of exciting and topical themes in state-of-the-art nanoscale science. Housed in a suite of recently refurbished laboratories containing an excellent equipment base, our core activities are focussed on understanding and controlling the structure and behaviour of condensed matter on length scales ranging from the single molecule limit to micron dimensions.
